What is a hinged box?
When it is delivered, no one can tell the hinged box is a packaging solution. Packed flat and space-saving, only folding turns the flat blank into a solid, three-dimensional box. Ready to store and transport your products safely and present them effectively. For example, by printing your brand message all over the lid of the folding box and/or on both sides. As a real all-rounder, the sustainable hinged box can be used as product packaging, outer packaging or gift packaging. How is a hinged box constructed?
Flat and cut in one piece, the hinged box lies in front of you as a flat basic shape. Now you can turn it into a folding box with a lid - by folding and joining. The material is always stable, but still light, and the handling is effortless and time-saving. Perfect when time is of the essence! Hinged boxes are folded and erected in a flash, ready to be filled and sent. In principle, you don't need any adhesive tape, because a hinged box holds together securely thanks to the tuck-in fasteners. Hinged box components - which ones are available?
The quickly assembled hinged boxes are not only ideal for shipping light to medium-weight products ranging from small parts to product samples in a pressure-resistant hinged box made of solid cardboard. The recyclable hinged boxes are also available in strong, single or multi-wall corrugated cardboard - including all-round corner and edge protection for the safe shipping of heavy printed products. A classic hinged box made of solid cardboard is sufficient for product weights up to 500 g. For anything heavier, we recommend a hinged box made of corrugated cardboard. At packaging warehouse you will find hinged boxes in lengths from 400 to 700 mm, widths between 27 and 400 mm, heights from 15 to 400 mm and in a range of grammages, i.e. weight in grams per square meter (g/m²).

Our printing processes for hinged boxes: Offset and digital printing
State-of-the-art printing technology used
We work exclusively with the latest technology in order to achieve the best printing results for our customers. We use two different printing processes offset and digital printing.
A printing form must first be created for offset printing . This takes some time. The printing form can not be adjusted afterwards. However, the offset process produces the best quality print results.
With digital printing, no printing form needs to be produced. You can send us the print file digitally, for example via file transfer or a USB stick, and it will then be read out digitally.
This has several advantages:
- The print image can be changed flexibly and without great effort.
- There are no costs for a physical printing form.
- Even small print runs can be realized cost-effectively.
- It is also possible to make adjustments within a series.
This is particularly useful for printing a consecutive production number or if items are to be personalized with names or other markings.
Tips for the best printing results for your hinged boxes
There are several factors that are important when creating the print file. We therefore recommend the following procedure:
- select only PDF (PDF/X-4:2010) as the format
- embed fonts or convert to vector paths
- set font size to at least 6pt
- embed images with at least 300 dpi
- set line thickness to at least 0.5 pt
- always select CYMK instead of RGB color space
- do not use Pantone colors (these colors are automatically converted to CYMK colors by us)
- always create black elements such as lines, shapes or surfaces as 100 % K (0C / 0M / 0Y / 100K)
- set the edge trim and safety distance to the punch to 3 mm
Please note that we can not read the following formats for printing: .docx / .png / .ppt / .eps / .ai / .jpg / .tiff. It is therefore very important that we always receive the print image in PDF format. This also guarantees that the formatting does not change.

In our professional data check, we also examine the safety margins and edge trimming, spot colors, resolution and line thickness.
