Do I have to pay for the punching tool again on my next order?
There are no additional costs for the punching tool for subsequent orders. The one-time cost for the tool varies depending on the size of the boxes and the quantity ordered. If the tool wears out over time, we will create a new one free of charge. After your order has been delivered, we will store the details of the tool in our database.
What is laser punched or conventionally punched and what is the difference?
Folding boxes are traditionally "conventionally punched" with a format-specific punching tool. For this, however, additional tool costs are incurred, which can be particularly significant in the case of small runs.

About a special laser technology, we can punch out and crease your folding box without a format-specific punching tool. This type of production is very quick and inexpensive.

How do I get an original sample print or white sample for my folding box?

To convince yourself of our products and manufacturing quality before placing your actual order, you have the option of ordering your own customised folding box sample. Thanks to our digital printing and finishing technologies, we offer you the opportunity to order a customised folding box sample made to measure. With or without printing, as desired. To do so, use the following settings in our product calculators:

Please note that the prices for individual samples only reflect the actual production costs. We are happy to offer you a 50-100% discount on these costs for your next order, subject to agreement. Our samples are also produced using advanced laser technology, whereby the laser is used not only for cutting but also for creasing your folding box sample. For the main order, we combine this innovative technology with traditional die-cutting methods to ensure the best quality at all times.

For every order, you have the option of allowing only conventional punching methods. To do this, simply select the ‘Conventional punching only’ option in our calculator.

For what do I need a protective varnish and what is his function?
A protective varnish has various functions. On the one hand, it protects your print image from external influences such as scratches, liquids or dirt, and on the other hand, it ensures an even more beautiful print image with a glossy or optional matte look.
What do I have to consider when creating my print data?
To use special colours such as Pantone for your folding box, we offer various options depending on the printing method. For small to medium print runs, we generally use digital printing in a 4-colour system (CMYK), in which Pantone colours can be simulated using customised colour mixtures.

For larger print runs, we recommend offset printing, which allows direct use of Pantone colours to precisely meet your specific colour requirements. If you would like a personalised quote for folding boxes with special colours in offset printing, our customer service team will be happy to help and answer all your questions.
Can I choose a neutral return address?

Our standard production time for folding boxes is usually 9 working days. However, for urgent orders, we can also complete the order within 6 working days. The fastest possible production time we can offer is 3 working days, with an additional 1-2 working days required for shipping. For this particularly fast production, we only use our laser punch, as it is not possible to manufacture a customised punching tool in such a short time.

Is it possible to print a best-before date on the protective varnish?

On request, we can manufacture folding boxes that are suitable for direct food contact. We only use high-quality virgin fibre cardboard and low-migration FCM printing inks and varnishes that are certified to meet the highest standards. Our customer service team will be happy to provide you with a personalised quote.

Chromo Chardboard (GC2 / GC1)

Chromo cardboard scores points with its coated surface, which is particularly smooth and gives the material additional stability. The special sealing also has a positive effect on the quality of the printed image. This is because details are displayed better on the smooth base.

Model GC2 is our thinnest material with a grammage of 280 g/m2 and a thickness of 0.52 mm. It has a smooth and white front side and a natural colored and slightly roughened back side.

With a grammage of 325 g/m2, the GC1 model is more stable than the GC2 model with the same material thickness. Due to the higher grammage, products made of chromo cardboard GC1 are particularly resistant to tearing and bending. The front side is smooth and white, the back side is slightly roughened and white.


Grass Cardboard

Grass is a very rapidly renewable resource and can be planted almost anywhere. Since the planting as well as the harvesting are not very costly, less pollutant emissions are generated in the production process. Resources such as water and energy are also conserved. With a grammage of 325g/m2 and a thickness of 0.52 mm, our grass cardboard boxes are very tear and bend resistant and offer the contents sufficient protection.

The front and the back are slightly roughened. Sustainability can be seen in this material at first glance. The clearly visible grass fibers provide a slightly structured surface that also has a special feel. With folding boxes made of grass cardboard, you have packaging that clearly communicates even the sustainability aspect.

RECYCLED CARDBOARD (GD2

We offer this material in a thickness of 0.59 mm and a grammage of 400 g/m2. The special feature: It consists of 99 percent recycled fiber and is therefore particularly sustainable. Further advantages are the high stability as well as the tear and bending strength. Both the front and back are white. The front is smooth, the back slightly roughened.

CELLULOSE CARDBOARD (GZ))

This material has the same material thickness of 0.52 mm as our boxes made of chromo cardboard, but have a higher grammage of 450 g/m2. This makes them particularly stable and the hinged boxes protect the contents well from external influences. Both front and back sides are smooth and bright white.

NATURAL CARDBOARD BROWN

Our brown natural cardboard is unbleached and consists of 50 percent recycled fibers. It has a grammage of 400 g/m2 with a thickness of 0.56 mm. The front is smooth and the back is slightly rough. Thanks to the natural brown surface, this choice of material is also particularly good for underlining the sustainable character of your packaged products.

NATURAL CARDBOARD BLACK

With a grammage of 350 g/m2 and a thickness of 0.46 mm, it is slightly thinner than the brown variant. The material is unbleached and uncoated. Both front and back sides are slightly roughened, just like the brown variant. Folding boxes with hinged lid made of the deep black cardboard look particularly noble.

 

PRACTICAL FEATURES FOR FOLDING BOXES WITH HINGED LID

PROTECTIVE COATING:  Applying a glossy or matte protective coating not only protects the material, but also highlights the printed image. The packaging treated with protective varnish can still be easily labeled.

PROTECTIVE LAMINATE: By covering your hinged box with a very thin foil, it is even better protected against external influences. No matter if moisture, dust, scratches or cracks: Your packaging is safe from damage and contamination. At the same time, you can give your packaging a particularly pleasant "feel", for example with our softtouch laminate.

LASERED OR CONVENTIONALLY PUNCHED: At packaging warehouse, you have a choice: Either have your packaging lasered or conventionally punched. Laser cutting is the cheaper option for free formats and smaller quantities, as no die-cutting tool needs to be created. Conventional punching is particularly cost-efficient for medium to large quantities.

Our printing methods for hinged boxes:
Offset and digital printing

We work exclusively with the latest technology in order to achieve the best printing results for our customers. For this purpose, we use two different printing processes: offset and digital printing.

For offset printing, a printing form must first be created. This takes some time. The printing form can no longer be adjusted afterwards. For this, the print result is the best quality with the offset process.

With digital printing, no printing form has to be produced. You can send us the print file digitally, for example via file transfer or a USB stick, and it will then be read digitally..

This has several advantages:
  • The print image can be changed flexibly and without great effort.
  • The costs for a physical printing plate are eliminated.
  • Even short runs can be realized cost-effectively.
  • It is also possible to make adjustments within a series.

This is particularly useful for printing a consecutive production number or when items are to be personalized with names or other markings.


Tips for the best printing result

There are some factors that are important when creating the print file. Therefore, we recommend the following procedure:
  • select only PDF (PDF/X-4:2010) as format
  • Embed fonts or convert them to vector paths
  • Set font size to at least 6pt
  • Embed images with at least 300 dpi
  • set line width to at least 0.5 pt
  • always choose CYMK instead of RGB color space
  • do not use pantone colors (these colors are automatically converted to CYMK colors)
  • always create black elements like lines, shapes or areas as 100 % K (0C / 0M / 0Y / 100K)
  • set edge trim and safety distance to the punch to 3 mm
Please note that we can not read the following formats for printing: .docx / .png / .ppt / .eps / .ai / .jpg / .tiff. Therefore, it is very important that we always have the print image in PDF format. This also guarantees that the formatting does not change.

With our basic data check, which is included free of charge with every order, we check the most important factors before we start printing. Included in the basic check is a check of the data format, the font as well as the font size, formatting and color space.

In our professional data check, we also check the safety margins and the edge trim, the spot colors, the resolution and the line width.
