Contour along which the label is punched out.

Saftey margin

Place text and images at least 1.5 mm away from the punch.

Bleed

Background elements should be placed 2 mm beyond the punch to prevent white flashes.

Open the print template in a suitable graphics programme, e.g. Adobe Illustrator, and design your labels exactly as you want them.

Save your finished design in the appropriate PDF format and simply upload the print data to your shopping basket when ordering online.

Print data instructions for labels

Convert or embed fonts

Convert all fonts used to paths or embed them completely in the document. This ensures that the font is displayed correctly.

CMYK colour space

Create your print data exclusively in the CMYK colour space. RGB colours are not suitable for printing.

Simulation of Pantone

Pantone colours cannot be printed directly in digital printing and are simulated using CMYK as standard. However, Pantone colours are available on request.

Image resolution

The resolution of embedded images should be at least 300 dpi.

Font size

The size of your fonts should be at least 6 pt.

Line thickness

The line thickness in your print data should be at least 0.2 mm.

Black as 100% K

Black design elements (e.g. fonts, lines, areas, barcodes and QR codes) can be printed in four colours on request. However, for good legibility and lower ink coverage, we always recommend 100% K (0C / 0M / 0Y / 100K).

Safety distance

Maintain a safety margin of at least 3.0 mm on all sides of the die contour and all creases, as slight registration variations may occur during die cutting.

PDF/X-4:2010 format

Save your print data as a PDF in PDF/X-4:2010 format.

Edge trimming / bleed

Create your print data with a bleed margin of 2.0 mm.

Apply opaque white

The application of opaque white is only necessary for coloured cardboards (e.g. brown, black). To do this, duplicate the element to be overprinted and arrange it in the background. Create this as a spot colour with the name ‘HPI-White’ (20% cyan) and set the upper element to ‘Overprint’.

Colour application

total ink coverage should not exceed 300%.

Hot foil stamping

Create all elements to be refined as solid colours with the name ‘Hot foil stamping’ and set them to ‘Overprint’.

  • Note regarding printing on the inside (4/4-colour print):
    For orders with double-sided printing, please upload only one PDF file to your shopping basket. To do this, save the outside and inside as separate pages in a PDF file. Page 1 is always the outside and page 2 is always the inside.
  • Note regarding the technical contours in your data:
    Please leave the technical outlines in the print data PDF. This is the only way we can accurately determine and print the exact position of your design. Of course, we will not print these outlines.

  • No data check: If our data experts find an error in the data format, in the format, in the font / font size, or in the color space used, you will be asked to provide adjusted print data. If we do not find an error here, the data is automatically approved without an additional proof by e-mail.
  • Expert data check: If our data experts find an error in your print data, we will make minor adjustments. Larger changes we adjust for you on request (10€/10 minutes). For each order you will automatically receive a proof by mail, in which you can finally approve your data.
