Sustainability is at the top of our agenda when it comes to our folding boxboard. Chromo board, recycled board, grass board and natural board are particularly leading in this area. Sustainability extends to all aspects of production. The fresh fibres come from sustainable forestry. Natural cardboard is made from 50% recycled fibres. All folding boxes with crash lock base can be recycled and composted. This means that they can be completely reused in a recycling cycle.
ECMA codes Folding box with tuck-in flap
The folding boxes are divided into groups using a letter that represents the respective category. Groups A, B, C, D, E and F stand for complete folding box constructions, while group X represents packaging accessories without a separate folding box. In our example order, we are dealing with a folding carton from group A: a rectangular folding carton with longitudinal seam gluing. This can be clearly seen in the graphic, as the base area is rectangular and the gluing area is comparatively small.
Die zweite Position des ECMA-Codes bestimmt das Verschlusssystem des Verpackungsbodens. Im Katalog sind insgesamt 19 verschiedene Bodenverschlüsse mit den entsprechenden Zahlen aufgeführt. Die Positionen ab hier bestehen immer aus einem Ziffernpaar. Da unsere Faltschachtel einen Einsteckverschluss haben soll, wird der ECMA-Code durch die Nummer 20 als zweite Variable definiert.
The third position of the ECMA code corresponds to the previous position, but now defines the closure system of the lid. There are a total of 21 lid closures to choose from, which, with a few exceptions, can be combined with all base closure systems. For our example of the folding box, the number 20 is also selected in the third position, as the insert closure is used for both the lid and the base.
The fourth position of the ECMA code provides information about which side of the design sketch the packaging base is located on. The surfaces of the packaging are numbered. This is clear in our example, as the edge of the base surface is positioned on the third rectangular surface of the design sketch. Therefore, the number 03 is used in the code. If the packaging has no base or lid, these and the third position can be marked with 00. This occurs, for example, with banderoles.
The fifth position of the ECMA code follows the same principle as the fourth position, but refers to the packaging lid. In our example, the lid of our folding box is located on the first rectangular surface of the design sketch, which is represented by the digits 01 in the ECMA code.
