How many labels are delivered on a roll?
In our online calculator you have two options to choose from: You can either select the number of labels per roll or the outer diameter of the roll. Please note that the maximum outer diameter is 300 mm. Depending on the quantity and the selected format, these settings can lead to price differences.
What is the correct winding direction for my labels?
If you stick your roll labels on your product by hand, the winding direction is irrelevant. However, if you stick your roll labels on your product with a labeling machine, the winding direction plays an important role. You can find out the correct winding direction from your contract manufacturer, who will label your products for you. Alternatively, the supplier of your labeling machine can help you.
Important: When calculating our labels in our label configurator, the desired label width ("width") is always the witdh of the label web.

What does permanent adhesive mean?
A permanent adhesive label adheres particularly well to a wide variety of surfaces such as glass, plastic or paper. After the label has been applied, the adhesive still needs a few hours to develop its full adhesive properties. Therefore, please avoid major fluctuations in temperature or humidity during and after labeling.
What do I have to consider when creating my print data?
Can the labels be printed thermotransfer afterwards?
Yes, all our labels can be subsequently printed with a thermal transfer printer. Simply select the option "thermal transfer printable" in our configurator.
How do I get an original sample print for my labels?
We can produce an original sample of your labels without any problems. The cost for this is around 20-25€ net, with the exact amount depending on the specific requirements regarding material, printing and finishing. In the case of a future order, we will gladly reimburse you for these costs. Alternatively, you can use our label sample box to get a first impression of our materials and quality.
Can special colors also be printed?
All our roll labels are printed digitally in 4C (CMYK). Special colors can therefore not be printed true to the original but can only be simulated. Depending on the color and material, the deviation from the original spot color can be more or less pronounced.
What do I need a protective coating for and what is its function?
A protective coating has various functions. On the one hand, it protects your print image from external influences such as scratches, liquids or dirt, and on the other hand, it ensures an even more beautiful print image with a glossy or optional matte look.

What distinguishes Roll labels?

Roll labels, also known as roll-fed labels or continuous labels, are self-adhesive labels on a roll – for precise further processing in labelling machines and label dispensers. Digitally printed roll labels are ideal for small and medium-sized print runs, as the print data goes directly to the printing machine without any significant set-up costs. This cost saving is passed on to you, the customer, in the form of high-quality roll labels with an excellent price-performance ratio. On paper, cardboard and foil packaging, as shipping and inventory labels in warehouses and logistics, retail, industry, on cosmetics and, last but not least, in the food sector. Each label has the properties you assign to it: alcohol, moisture, fats, oils? UV radiation or frost? Roll labels do their job without fail, from chemicals to motor oil, indoors and outdoors. They also adhere to any container, whether bottle, can, jar or tube, rigid or flexible. Labelling frozen goods? No problem, thanks to temperature-resistant, waterproof labels made of adhesive paper. Come what may, roll labels shine with a clear print image and bright colours – and no creases disturb the high-quality appearance. And after use? Roll labels – materials

Thanks to a wide variety of colours, shapes and materials, Roll label materials can be optimally adapted to your product in terms of function, design and stress. Depending on your needs, labels can adhere for years (adhesive strength 9 N/25 mm) or be removed in seconds without leaving any residue (adhesive strength 3 N/25 mm). Label materials made of paper and plastic with their three layers – top material, backing and adhesive – can take on any challenge. Smooth paper surfaces provide a brilliant colour print, while open (rough) surfaces offer a tactile experience for the fingertips. The outstanding feature of PET film labels (made of polyethylene terephthalate), on the other hand, is their robustness and temperature resistance. Unwanted shrinkage or expansion? No chance – in the range from -60 °C to +150 °C! You can also print PET labels using thermal transfer printing – from fruit counters to garden centres. Do you need to cover existing barcodes and product information with a label in the local language? Roll labels with an opaque blue backing score points for their opacity.

What roll label materials are available in the packaging warehouse?

White, matt adhesive paperis a proven label candidate for dry indoor use, made for rigid, non-deformable containers – thermotransfer printable, recyclable, plastic-free, vegan and compostable. Adhesive paper is available in permanent adhesive (also opaque) or with removable adhesive, as well as made from 100 per cent recycled paper.
White, glossy PE filmUseful indoors and outdoors, in dry and wet areas, permanently adhesive on deformable containers – thermotransfer printable, recyclable and vegan – also made from 100 per cent recycled PE, for non-deformable containers.
White, glossy PP filmfor indoor and outdoor use is not only more tear-resistant than PE film, but also highly transparent – and perfect for rigid containers.

Labels made from grass paperwith a structured grass look (35 per cent grass content) are suitable for indoor use in dry areas. Roll labels made of grass paper adhere to non-deformable containers with permanent adhesive. The distinctive greenish sheen is created without the addition of any colouring. Labels made of grass paper are recyclable, plastic-free, vegan and compostable.

All labels perform best in a temperature range between -20°C and +80°C. Paper, foil, grass, metallised materials, finishing with protective laminate, etc. – to get a personal impression of what is possible with label materials, you can save yourself the expense of sample prints. Roll labels - Adhesive

Success or failure – it all comes down to the adhesive. If the promise is permanent adhesion, the adhesive will adhere excellently to a wide variety of surfaces, whether glass, paper or plastic. Permanent labels must be distinguished from Security labels, which leave behind a special adhesive structure after removal, indicating that the label or seal has been broken. Did you know? After application, the adhesive needs some time to develop its adhesive properties. High initial and secure final adhesion guarantee a trouble-free labelling process even at higher labelling speeds, e.g. in packaging systems. Removing labels again? Labels made of removable adhesive film, for excellent adhesion to non-porous surfaces such as coated paper or film, can be removed later without leaving any residue – e.g. from discounted B-grade goods in bookshops.

You only need to tell us the number of roll label types when you upload your data. The number of labels on a roll depends on the label format and print run – available with an outer diameter of up to 200 mm and in any (free) shape. For printing, you can choose between unprinted or Euroscale four-colour printing – plus white for transparent and coloured material if required; we provide special colours as a simulation. What finishes and extras are available?

In principle, digitally printed roll labels do not require a protective coating, unless they are exposed to harsh conditions. Equip your roll labels with a UV protective coating. Protective coatings or laminates form a barrier against liquids, moisture, abrasion – or anything else that could scratch the label. Labels with hot foil stamping also set you apart from the competition. Enhancements that make your label printing shine and look classy! Of course, we also offer Blank roll labels for subsequent printing with prices or barcodes. All packaging warehouse labels can be printed retrospectively using thermal transfer. Reason enough to pre-produce roll labels – and leave space for ad hoc labelling. But you can also get ready-printed roll labels with razor-sharp barcodes from us.

Why are the correct winding direction and roll core important?

Wound externally, word beginning first, word end first, head first, foot first? With us, you'll never go wrong when applying your roll labels to your product using a labelling machine. Your contract manufacturer or machine supplier knows the correct winding direction. To calculate the labels, you need the width of the label web. Word end forward or right forward means that the short side is your label width in the configurator. Foot forward means that the long side is your label width. In addition to the winding direction, the roll core must also be correct. For example, because all hell is breaking loose at your point of sale's Christmas gift service and one label is chasing the next. Whether you apply roll labels for the label dispenser or apply labels by machine: with the right roll core, further processing is quick and easy! The labels are rolled up on this cardboard sleeve. Its dimensions depend on the diameter of the printer unwinder in inches – 26, 40, 50 and 76 mm are common (suitable for many industrial printers). With the right roll core, the following are correct:

  • roll width
  • Thickness of the cardboard
  • Gluing - Alignment
  • moisture content
  • compressive strength

The roll core has a smooth surface and is resistant to indentation and dimensional change (does not shrink). Even at high speeds, the roll core absorbs vibrations and dynamic stress under pressure from weight load and winding speed. Only the right roll core offers you maximum processing reliability.
