F flute is a so-called fine flute, also referred to as microflute corrugated board. Like any corrugated board, it consists of a composite structure made of two flat linerboards (liners) and a fluted paper medium in between. Typical dimensions of F flute are a flute height (h) of 0.6–1.0 mm and a flute pitch (t) of 1.8–2.6 mm.
What is F flute suitable for?
Thanks to its very fine flute structure, F flute has a smooth surface that allows for a very high-quality print image. At the same time, F flute is very thin and therefore well suited for shipping cartons where structural strength is of secondary importance. As a general rule, the finer the corrugated board selected, the better the print quality — but the cushioning effect and stackability decrease. Fine flute grades such as F flute are therefore particularly suitable for high-quality printed product packaging and are only suitable to a limited extent as a classic shipping carton.
